Background:
Aspen Beauty Academy of Laurel had a solid history of training Maryland students for successful cosmetology careers, with graduates who went on to become sought-after stylists, hair salon owners, cosmetology instructors, and beauty consultants. The school consistently achieved high completion, placement, and state board licensure rates, and wanted to celebrate that. On the consumer side, they also offered a full range of services at affordable prices in a salon-like setting.
Challenge:
To re-brand the school and give it an updated look that spoke to their two different ideal clients: (1) Students interested in pursuing a career in cosmetology, and (2) Clients who needed the services of a full-service salon.
Solution:
I developed a new brand identity based around two ideas: quality and beauty. This new identity spoke strongly to students looking for the place that would help them launch successful cosmetology careers, while also attracting clients in search of a full-service salon experience at reasonable prices. We carried out this new brand identity through the logo, stationery suite, web site, and advertisements. I also used the new brand identity to create posters that were integrated into the interior design of the school.
